Claude-Henri Buffard, dramatist

Claude-Henri Buffard is a playwright, screenwriter and novelist, and a former journalist and theater critic, managing editor of culturel publications, and General Secretary (until 1990) of the Maison de la culture de Grenoble He has Written nearly a dozen performed and published plays, including La Minute de silence (Les Inachevé, 1991 ; Théêtre de la Bastille, 1994 ; Compagnie 99, Geneva, 2001) ; Jeanne Heureuse (premiered by France Culture, 1998) ; and Marie-Partira (Scène nationale de Basse Terre, Guadeloupe, 2001). He has written numerous interviews and critical assays about stage performance (a first volume, Qui va là?, was published by Comp’Act in 1997).

Associated with Jean-Claude Gallotta since 1998, he was a part of the creative team for Presque Don Quichotte, 1999 ; L’Incessante, premiered at the Avignon Festival, 1999 ; Les Larmes de Marco Polo, 2000 ; and 99 duos, 2002. For film, he wrote the screenplay for L’amour en deux (directed by Jean-Claude Gallotta, 1992) and Mazeppa (directed by Bartabas, 1993 Cannes Festival official Selection).

He has published with the photographer Gyu Delahaye Mon lointain parent, text for the choreography 99 duos (Comp'Act, 2004), Les rêves ont leurs usines, wich dealed with the history of the maison de la culture de Grenoble (Glénat, 2004) and Gallotta : Souvenirs obliques d'un chorégraphe, which relates the course of the choreographer from the beginning to nowadays (Actes Dud, 2005).

He is also the writer of various novels : La fille d'Emma (Grasset, 2001, Oki ne voit pas le mal (Fayard / Mille et une nuits, 2007) and a modd book Je hais l'été (Fayard / Mille et une nuit, 2007).
